BACKGROUND:
Peter pursued his commitment to justice while in law school, where he interned in the Public Defender's Office, for an Appellate Judge and at the Public Justice Center. As a new lawyer, Peter developed a general practice background while training under one of the top litigators in Annapolis from 1993 to 1997, and then opened his own trial law firm in 1997. Since that time, his practice has focused primarily on Personal Injury such as auto accidents and wrongful death, and Consumer Rights such as car dealer fraud and mortgage fraud. He also handles general litigation such as business disputes, and is licensed to practice before all courts in Maryland. Peter is also trained as a Mediator. Specific Practice Areas include:Auto Accidents,Consumer Rights,Other Litigation,and Mediation .
In 2004, he was joined by Benjamin Carney, who serves as Litigation Associate. Ben formerly worked as an editorial assistant on The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, and then at the FDIC. He received the University of Maryland Law School's Outstanding Clinical Advocacy Prize for his work on behalf of consumers.
Our firm strives to give the individual attention that clients want, while at the same time offering the depth to handle complex and time consuming cases. Sometimes we co-counsel a case with another solo or small firm which provides the opportunity to "custom build" a law firm around a specific problem when the case warrants it.
SPECIAL TRAINING:
Peter has completed the nationally acclaimed Regional Trial Lawyers College sponsored by Gerry Spence, and the National Institute of Trial Advocacy's intensives on Depositions, Basic, and Advanced Trial Skills. During the Fall, 2005 academic semester, he is teaching the Consumer Protection Law Seminar at the University of Maryland School of Law.
