What other recourse do I on challenging my attorney’s fee?

B. Casey Yim
Answered by attorney B. Casey Yim (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Murchison & Cumming, LLP
You don't have to go through State Bar proceedings. You can file a civil lawsuit for legal malpractice in court. I'm most states arbitration is merely optional for the client. You will have to check with your local state's statutes and procedures. The arbitration favors the attorney because it is conducted by attorneys. As the client, you are better off in court where most jurors share your basic distrust for lawyers.
