Kathleen Drew joined Adams and Reese in 1989 and leads the Asbestos Litigation team. She focuses her practice on toxic tort litigation, product liability litigation and class action litigation. She has extensive experience in the medical and toxicological defense of these cases, and has coordinated and presented the liability and medical defense in class action litigation involving anywhere from 3,000 to as many as 10,000 claimants.

In the course of her career, Kathleen has defended toxic tort and product litigation in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Texas. She was recently named in Louisiana Super Lawyers® - Environmental and Toxic Tort.

Her significant contributions include:

· Representing chemical and/or petrochemical companies in toxic tort cases involving exposures to asbestos, silica, benzene, DDT, dioxin, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen flouride, sulphur gas and numerous other chemicals.

· Creating and maintaining a database of claimants involved in toxic tort class action or mass consolidation litigation that have been filed in Louisiana, which has been used for various clients to assist in isolating and recognizing repeat or fraudulent claimants.

· Using the database of claimants to assist various Louisiana courts in the selection of juries, at class certification hearings and trials, and in the settlement and/or mediation of claims, resulting in reduced settlements.

· Providing substantial counseling and advice to clients in negotiating and obtaining class action settlements and global settlements.

· Assisting clients in developing strategies to respond to voluminous document productions and to protect privileged documents and responding to nationwide discovery so as to maintain consistency and uniformity across various venues.

Kathleen has been actively involved in the Defense Research Institute and is a member of the Environmental Law Committee of the DRI as well as the Asbestos Medicine Subcommittee. She has made several presentations to the DRI, other organizations and attorneys with regards to the medical defense of toxic tort litigation.

Kathleen was appointed by the Chancellor of Louisiana State University Law School to serve on its Alumni Board of Directors and its Louisiana Environmental Round Table, an organization consisting of plaintiff and defense lawyers, federal and state court judges, members of the Louisiana DEW, members of the EPA and representatives from various industries, whose purpose is to discuss issues encountered in handling toxic tort litigation.

In her free time, Kathleen is a reader, gardener, cook specializing in Louisiana food and an avid sports fan.
