Michael B. Miller combines his accounting and business background with 12 years experience in practicing law to serve estate, business and real estate clients in the Valparaiso, Portage and Chesterton, Indiana area.
Business Law: Michael serves clients in setting up corporations and LLCs (limited liability companies). He serves as counsel for all business transactions, contract and commercial litigation, tax issues, leases, nonprofits, buying or selling business, alcoholic beverage permits, employment contracts, and succession planning.
Real Estate: Michael represents clients in all residential and commercial real estate matters, including buyers or sellers, landlord/tenant disputes, leases, litigation, tax issues, easements, zoning variances, eminent domain, homeowners and condominium associations.
Inheritance Law: Michael serves clients in a wide range of inheritance and estate related issues. He helps families with estate planning including wills, trusts, power of attorney, living wills, and premarital agreements. Many of his clients require tax planning to avoid or reduce federal estate taxes and state inheritance taxes. Michael works with couples in second marriages to work through their special inheritance concerns.
Michael serves as counsel in probate and estate administration, guardianships, contested trusts, will contests, and other litigation and settlement of estates and trusts in Porter County and Lake County, Indiana. He also practices in the areas of elder law and Medicaid.
Since 1997, Michael has authored a booklet entitled "10 Basic Rules of Estate Planning".
