How To Use A Lawyer

The more we know your business, the better we can serve you.  At Demorest Law Firm, PLLC, we believe that if we take the time to get to know you and develop a relationship with you and understand your businesses needs and objectives, we can provide more efficient and effective legal advice and services. 

Here are some tips on what you can do, as a client, to foster that relationship and help us serve you in the best possible way.

  1. Be organized.  If you are seeking advice on a particular problem, make sure you have all of the relevant documents and other information related to the matter so that we can quickly get a complete understanding of the issues involved.  The more prepared you are, the more efficient we can be.

  2. Be proactive.  If you notice a problem or other matter developing in your business that may require legal attention, let us know immediately.  With advanced planning many disputes and problems can be resolved or avoided altogether at an early stage.  This is especially true in the area of dispute resolution.  Small matters can evolve into expensive and time-consuming litigation if left alone too long.

  3. Don’t be shy.  As your business lawyer, we want to know everything about your business.  Don’t hold back in discussing your dreams, ambitions and goals for the business.  We might have some ideas that can help move them forward.  Also, if there are problems, don’t be afraid to tell your lawyer.  We are not here to judge your business acumen, but we can’t help solve a problem if we don’t know you are in trouble.

  4. Don’t be reactive.  Please do not wait to call us until you have been served with a lawsuit or your supplier has breached a contract with you.  Ideally we should meet with you quarterly, or at least twice a year, to review what you have done and what you are planning so that we can advise you on any legal ramifications and fix anything that might become a problem.

  5. Take advantage of our network and experience.  We are familiar with a wide variety of businesses and business deals.  We may be able to help you find the services you need to accomplish your goals.
