McKenzie & Taylor, P.A., was founded in 1982 by James F. McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie had previously been associated with the Levin firm, a partner in Myrick and McKenzie, and a partner in Kinsey, Myrick, Troxel and McKenzie before opening this firm at the Scott Street building, which is still being used by the firm today.

Stephanie Taylor joined the firm in 1993 after graduation from law school.

From the beginning, the firm has primarily represented individuals with legal problems associated with injuries sustained in accidents, disability claims, and insurance controversies. The firm is widely regarded as performing high quality legal work in the settlement and trial of these legal issues and Mr. McKenzie has been recognized by inclusion within the prestigious publication of Who's Who in American Law.
