H. Trigg Mitchell joined the corporate practice group of McBrayer, McGinnis, Leslie & Kirkland, PLLC as Senior Associate in May of 2012.

Mr. Mitchell graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1995, Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, attended law school at Salmon P. Chase College of Law and obtained his LL.M. in Taxation in 2002 from the University of Denver on an Arthur Anderson Tax Challenge Scholarship. After law school, he served as a tax consultant with Arthur Anderson, LLP, providing full-service tax and financial consulting to corporations, as well as evaluating tax and financial consequence of corporate reorganizations.

In addition to his corporate background, Mr. Mitchell has extensive experience in estate planning, as well as preparation of individual, estate, fiduciary and charitable tax returns. He has represented taxpayers on disputes with the IRS and the Kentucky Department of Revenue. Prior to joining the firm, he practiced in the Lexington office of Dinsmore & Shohl. As an associate with Dinsmore, Mr. Mitchell represented clients in a variety of transactions, including business acquisitions and divestitures, business entity formations, mergers and real estate issues relating to same.

Mr. Mitchell demonstrated a keen understanding of not only the law, but the circumstances surrounding the transaction. He diligently worked toward problem resolution and appropriate compromise, while effectively representing his client. Despite representing clients with disparate interests, his professionalism, communication skills, and reasonable nature greatly assisted in closing the transaction.

I have known Mr. Mitchell for over 25 years, and he is simply one of the best lawyers and people that I know. As a lawyer he's highly skilled, diligent, honest, respectful, hard working and is the epitome of all of the best aspects of the legal profession. He is truly a great lawyer. Further, outside of the job he is one of the best people I know. Trigg is a genuinely nice person that cares for his fellow man. The Bar is lucky to have him as a member.

H. Trigg Mitchell has multiple practice areas, including corporate & transaction work, commercial finance, trusts & estates, and tax and finance. Mr. Mitchell and I worked in the same firm for several years, and I found Mr. Mitchell to be an extremely knowledgeable and professional colleague. He is a very ethical and trustworthy attorney, and I would have no hesitation in referring matters to him, and have done so in the past.

    The Reviewers
