U.S. vs Decarlos Rodgers
The client was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Three police officers testified they removed a firearm from his pocket. The client said they never took anything out of his pocket. A federal court jury returned a verdict of not guilty.

Thomas David Jordan vs. Norfolk Southern Railroad
The plaintiff was working between tracks uncoupling railroad cars when he was struck by a train travelling on the adjacent track. The plaintiff, 57 years old, suffered a broken back with spinal fusion, a broken leg repaired with a steel rod, serious lacerations, amnesia and visual problems. After a three week trial, the jury returned a verdict, for the plaintiff Mr. Jordan, of $5 million.

State of Tennessee vs. Andrew Hennings
The state of Tennessee charged Hennings with rape of a child. Despite a 22 page confession, a jury found Hennings
not guilty on all counts.

Gregory vs. Shelby County, Tennessee:
Gerald Gregory was an inmate at the Shelby County Jail when he was assaulted and killed by another inmate. The assault was made possible by the deliberate act of a deputy jailer. The Gregory family hired this firm to represent them in a Civil Rights lawsuit against Shelby County. A federal grand jury awarded compensatory damages against the deputy jailer for $750,000 and punitive damages for $2.2 million.

Hutchins vs. Burlington Northern:
Charles Hutchins was an employee of the Burlington Norther Railroad. He fell from an overpass approximately two stories high due to the railroad's failure to maintain it safely. Hutchins was rendered permanently disabled and had to undergo an extensive period of rehabilitation and his future employability is doubtful. A Shelby County jury rendered a verdict for Hutchins in the amount of $ 2 million.

Mark Northcutt vs Servicemaster:
Northcutt, an experienced pilot with Northwest Airlines, slipped in a substance on the floor of the pilot's lounge at the Memphis International Airport and struck his head. Airline employees had called Servicemaster numerous times to have the spill cleaned up, but they failed to appear. The impact to Northcutt's head resulted in a permanent brain injury that causes frequent cognitive dysfunction. Through our offices, he sued Servicemaster for negligence. In September of 2000, a Shelby County jury returned a verdict for $ 1.2 million.

Conseco vs. Costello:
Three brothers were beneficiaries of seperate life insurance policies taken out by their mother. At the time of the mother's death, Conseco had begun an investigation into the policies. Conseco said that the policy applications did not appear to be signed by the same person. This office represented the three brothers. A Federal Court jury in Shelby County, Tennessee gave verdicts for the brothers on each of the three policies and also assesed the full statutory bad faith penalty on each policy. Total recovery was $411,000

Perkins vs. Allstate Insurance Co.
Client was accused of insurance fraud for arranging the destruction of his own pickup truck. A Shelby County jury exonorated him and awarded damages.

United States vs. Marcus Boyd:
Marcus Boyd was indicted in Federal Court for a drug conspiracy that led to a gang related double homicide.

United States vs. Bennie Holmes:
Bennie Holmes was a Deputy Jailer at the Shelby County Jail. He was indicted along with a number of other jailers for beating several prisoners.

Holt vs. City of Memphis:
Claudine Waller suffered from severe respiratory problems. When she passed out at home, her family called Memphis Fire Department paramedics to have her transported to the hospital. She revived before the paramedics arrived and they refused to transport her to the hospital. She went into respiratory distress after they left. The paramedics were called again and this time she was transported. She lapsed into a coma and died in the hospital about one week later. The family hired this office to bring a wrongful death claim against the City of Memphis. A Shelby County judge returned a verdict in favor of the Waller family for $78,000.
