Isenberg & Hewitt was established in 1985 by Harriet C. Isenberg and Melvin L. Hewitt, Jr. Ms. Isenberg, had already established herself in the business community as the owner of her own real estate investment company. Mr. Hewitt is a former President of Globe Security Systems - one of the nation's largest, publicly-held, security firms with over 13,000 employees and over one hundred offices serving the United States and Europe. In establishing the firm, Ms. Isenberg & Mr. Hewitt were sensitive to the needs and resources of business people in need of quality representation at affordable rates.
The firm quickly attracted a solid client base, particularly with carpeting, flooring, plumbing, heating & air conditioning, turn-key and other vendors, virtually all of which remain loyal customers today. Commercial collections, service and supply contracts, employment and restrictive covenant issues and other matters routinely affecting business operations became the focus of the firm. The firm enjoyed and still enjoys an extensive representation of businesses providing goods and services to the multi-family [apartment] industry.
In the early to mid 90's, many of the owners and managers of the company's Isenberg & Hewitt represented began to call on their trusted counsel for representation in non-commercial, personal matters. Responding to their clients, Isenberg & Hewitt increased their support staff to enable them to professionally handle personal injury matters, wrongful death claims and premises liability cases. In early 1997, the firm began handling a number of immigrated eastern European clients with business and personal matters. The firm's business litigation and personal injury business grew and recently the firm has added support staff to assist in the handling of immigration issues for individuals and businesses.
