Intellectual Property: Counsels clients regarding the creation, protection, management, due diligence, transfer, licensing, and pre-litigation matters related to Copyrights, Trademarks, Patents, Trade Secrets, Publicity Rights and Privacy Rights.
Mergers and Acquisitions: Prepares clients for M&A activity through corporate and other entity formation and management of IP portfolios and rights; manages contract and IP due diligence; drafts and negotiates representations and warranties and disclosure schedules.
Internet and Ecommerce: Counsels clients regarding legal matters relating to business on the Internet, including Domain Names, Terms of Use, Privacy Policies and Privacy Compliance, COPPA Compliance, Sweepstakes & Contests, Click Licenses, Disclaimers and Best Practices.
Representative Industries and Technology Areas: Software (ownership, licensing, Open Source issues), Software as a Service (SaaS), Hosted Services, Search, Hardware, Semiconductors, EDA, Ecommerce, Retail, Medical Databases & Records (including HIPAA and ARRA/HITECH compliance), Data Conversion, Medical Devices and Biotechnology, and Entertainment.

Shannon Pierce grew up in Los Angeles, California and Tucson, Arizona; went to law school in Boston; practiced in the Silicon Valley (Palo Alto); and then moved to Hawai'i in 2007. After 6 years in the Technology Transactions Group at the Silicon Valley firm of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, she managed her own practice in Hawai'i and California for 4 years before joining the firm.
