Firm Overview

Law & Schriener, L.L.C. is a two attorney firm having as its partners Carter Law and Kevin Schriener.  

Carter Law, the firm’s founding partner spent ten years in the Federal Defender’s Officer for the Eastern District of Missouri.  In that capacity, she represented hundreds of people charged with all manner of federal crimes and supervised release and probation violations.  She has tried many cases in federal court with a sold record of acquittals, hung juries, and dismissals.  In addition, she has briefed and argued many federal appeals in the Eighth and Seventh Circuits with a sold record of reversals and, in some instances, remand with instructions to enter a judgment of acquittal. 

Kevin Schriener was for seventeen years the senior pro se staff attorney for the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Missouri.  In that capacity, he gained valuable experience in the areas of habeas corpus, post-conviction and civil rights law.  He has represented defendants in federal and state courts, and has represented federal and state prisoners in post-conviction proceedings. 

We appear in Missouri and Illinois state courts as well as the federal district courts of the Eastern District of Missouri, both in St. Louis and in Cape Girardeau, and of the Southern District of Illinois, both in East St. Louis and in Benton.  In addition, we appear pro hac vice in federal courts throughout the country, most recently in the Southern District of New York.
