Experience

Elizabeth Stacy Vencill graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law  1987.  She served as the Coordinating Processing Editor of the prestigious University of New Mexico Natural Resources Journal from 1986 to 1987.  She clerked for the Chief Justice of the New Mexico Supreme Court from 1987 to 1988, then opening her private practice in 1988.

 

Ms. Vencill graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1975 with a B.A. Degree, with distinction, awarded from the prestigious School of Anthropology, with a minor in from the ground-breaking American Studies Program with an emphasis in Women Studies.  Ms. Vencill was an honorary student instructor in the Women Studies program in 1974-1975 and was primarily responsible for developing the curriculum for that program.

 

Ms. Vencill's law practice centers primarily in the area of Family Law,  which includes the areas of divorce, custody, child support and alimony.  Family Law may include other areas such as operation and valuation of business, forensic accounting, psychological reports, medical issues, asset location, just to name a few.  Ms. Vencill has also handled International Family Law cases.

 

Ms. Vencill has extensive trial experience in many of the courts within the State of New Mexico.  Although primarily practicing within Bernalillo County, she has also appeared in courtrooms throughout the State of New Mexico, including Santa Fe County, Grant County, Sandoval County, Valencia County, San Miguel County, Union County, Taos County, McKinley County, San Juan County, Cibola County, Torrance County, Lincoln County, Eddie County, Otero County and Chavez County.  Ms. Vencill always welcomes the opportunity to meet and work with the Citizens of New Mexico. 

 

 

Memberships and Contributions

 

Ms. Vencill became a member of the New Mexico State Bar Public Relations Education Committee in 1993 and continues to serve on that committee.  Ms. Vencill  was primarily responsible for authoring the well-recognized Public Legal Education Committee High School Essay Contest between 1996 and 2002, which covered topics ranging from Immigration, School Dress Codes, and Wolf Release.  Ms. Vencill has assisted with the Public Relations Education Committee's information programs, public information inserts in the Albuquerque Journal, and a project to encourage and implement public legal education in public schools.

 

Ms. Vencill is currently a licensed member of the New Mexico State Bar, and is a member of the following New Mexico State Bar Sections:  Appellate Practice Section, Business Law Section, Criminal Law Section, Family Law Section, Solo and Small Firm Practitioners, and the Trial Section.  Ms. Vencill is also a member of the Albuquerque Bar Association and the Women's Bar Association.

 

Ms. Vencill has received two Outstanding Contribution Awards from the New Mexico State Bar in 1996 and 2002.  Ms. Vencill has also received commendations from New Mexico Legal Aid and the Referral for the Elderly.  An article referencing Ms. Vencill was published in the Blue Sheet of New Mexico, Volume III, Issue 5, May 2000.

 

 

Personal 

 

Ms. Vencill maintains strong family ties.  She graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1971.  Ms. Vencill was approved as a Cub Scout Leader in 1988 and served in this capacity from 1988 until 1992.  Ms. Vencill's Cub Scout Den received the most awards of any in the Pack during this period, and all members were encouraged to develop confidence in public speaking, performing, crafts, listening, and working as a team.  Ms. Vencill was approved as a Duke City Soccer Coach in 1995 and served as the head coach of a boy's soccer team until 1999.  Ms. Vencill has volunteered for the Nob Hill Neighborhood Association.  Ms. Vencill helped found the Friends of the Kimo community group, and served as the Treasurer of the Friends of the Kimo Board of Directors from 1977 through 1985.
