January 2001. Resolved by mutual agreement: Theodore D. Woytowicz v. Beckman Coulter, Inc., No. 99 C 8379, a case alleging age and disability discrimination and state law wage claims.
"Ex-Teacher Wins Lawsuit on Age Bias," Chicago Tribune, January 25, 2000. Ms. Ecker and attorney Richard J. Gonzalez won a jury verdict in favor of Anthony McCoy in his age discrimination case against the Board of Education of Glenbard School District 87. The Honorable James R. Holderman presided over the jury trial in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, which began on January 18, 2000. After less than one hour of deliberations, the jury returned a verdict for Mr. McCoy, found that the discrimination was willful, and awarded Mr. McCoy $171,671. The judge had taken under advisement Mr. McCoy's motion for liquidated damages and front pay and counsels' petition for attorneys' fees when the case settled.
