Biography: James is a native of Ringgold, Georgia, where he worked for several years as a doffer and packer in a textile mill before enlisting in the Air Force. After his active duty tour in Anchorage, Alaska, James returned to the Chattanooga area, joined the Tennessee Air National Guard, and made quick use of his GI Bill at Chattanooga Technical Community College. After receiving his Associate of Science degree in Chattanooga, James moved to Knoxville, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science environmental degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. After graduating from UT, James worked for several years as an environmental specialist for Vulcan Materials Company, where his interest in the legal arena began to grow. Guided and inspired by teachers, co-workers, business associates, friends, and family members, he enrolled in law school at the University of Georgia, which seemed an almost impossible dream come true. After graduating from law school, James and his family returned home to Chattanooga, where he now practices law.
