Trial Experience
Dan Cogdell has been an attorney for over 20 years. He began as a Briefing Attorney at the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals for presiding Judge John F. Onion, Jr. Dan then joined the firm of Haynes & Fullenweider and worked with "Racehorse" Haynes for six years. Since forming his own firm Dan has enjoyed an outstanding reputation as a criminal defense lawyer and has been nominated to the "Best Lawyers in America List" since 1994. Dan has tried cases to verdict in 13 different states and numerous federal jurisdictions.

After 6 years with the Harris County District Attorney's Office, Chip Lewis left to form the firm of Cogdell & Lewis with Dan. While at the District Attorney's office Chip tried well over 100 cases to jury verdict, ranging from speeding tickets to capital murder. Since entering private practice Chip has enjoyed a busy practice in both the state and federal courts.

Since becoming licensed in 1999 Allen Goodling has tried over 10 cases as a second chair lawyer with Dan Cogdell, including 4 major murder cases. Allen has also enjoyed trying many of his own cases in, including misdemeanors and felonies. Additionally, Allen has many clients in federal court. Allen also has many appellate clients and just recently won a reversal for a 15-year-old defendant convicted of murder who was initially sentenced to life imprisonment.
