Mr. Clay has been involved in numerous community activities since graduation from law school. While living in Bluefield from 1976-1980 he was a member and served on the Board of Deacons of Westminster Presbyterian Church as secretary and church treasurer. He also served on the Board of the United Way and as Vice-president of the Kiwanis Club in Bluefield. Since moving to Fayette County, Mr. Clay has served on several church boards and as a member of the Pastor's Council of Mountain View Church of God from 1992-1998. He also served on the board of Christian Home Educators of West Virginia from 1987-1998 where he assisted with drafting and lobbying for favorable legislation for home schooling families in the state. He and his wife, Linda, have four children, Christopher, a graduate of King College with a degree inaccounting who is Vice-president of a financial consulting company, and Nathan,a graduate of King College with degrees in French and Math who is currently an engineering student at West Virginia University, and twin daughters, Rachael and Katherine, who are still attending college.. Presently, Mr. Clay attends Doggett Chapel Methodist Church where he plays piano for the congregation,serves as Lay Leader and attended the 2003 General Conference representing the Fayetteville-Doggett Chapel Charge
