About This Firm

Chicago Family Law, Divorce & Child Custody Attorneys

The Women's Divorce & Family Law Group is focused on protecting the legal rights of women and mothers facing divorce.

As the first law firm in the Chicagoland area to focus on women's and mother's rights, the Women's Divorce & Family Law Group by Haid & Teich is highly attuned to the unique needs and challenges confronting women going through the divorce process. In fact, the firm was first envisioned when one of its original founders personally experienced the difficulty of finding an attorney to represent her during a divorce. We understand that the attorney you hire should work for you! Accordingly, we strive to provide pragmatic and creative solutions to the often complicated issues facing those undergoing a divorce while always remaining mindful of the stresses this process can impose on your entire family.

Our firm can help to protect you and your family's interests from the first moment you contact us. Our firm has experience handling the most complex divorces with significant assets at stake to the most simple. We also have extensive experience handling the most complex custody disputes from abuse and emotional issues to custody cases with international and inter-state disputes involving parents living (or wanting to live) in different states or countries. Our attorneys are credited with filing Illinois' first same-sex divorce while we work to consult other law firms on and promote the rights of alternative families, including domestic and civil union partners. The services we offer encompass the following family law matters:

- Divorce

- Child Custody (both domestic and international)

- Visitation

- Child Support (and enforcement)

- Maintenance (i.e. "Spousal Support" or Alimony

- Modifying and Enforcing Divorce & Custody Agreements

- Pre-Divorce Planning

- Prenuptial & Postnuptial Agreements

- Domestic Violence & Orders of Protection

- Grandparents' Rights

- Guardianships

- Services for Nontraditional Families

- Family Business Issues

When clients come to our offices, they are often most worried about what lies ahead for themselves and their children. In response, one of our first priorities is to provide you with the peace of mind of knowing what you can expect from your case. We will work with you to ensure that you fully understand the issues in your case and our "game plan" for how we plan on achieving your goals. Our proactive approach means that we identify our clients' needs right from the start of a case, and rather than simply reciting the law, we apply the law to the relevant issues and explain the result at each turn.

Women Need Strong Advocates During Divorce

Although we represent both men and women undergoing divorces, there remains the common misconception that women have an "advantage" in a divorce. This just isn't the case under today's laws. Anyone undergoing a divorce or custody dispute should obtain strong advocates to protect their interests and those of their children.

Emphasis on Client Communication

A significant percentage of our cases are brought to us from client's that have left (or fired) their former attorney. The number #1 reason people leave their attorneys is a lack of communication. At our law firm, we understand that our clients' lives do not stop because they are going through divorce or dealing with another legal matter. Therefore, we work to provide a high level of client interaction through in-person meetings, phone calls and emails. We believe communication is so important that we are now proud to announce our firm's new state-of-the art web and phone apps so our clients can access their case information from their own computer or smart phone at any time!

The confidence I felt in Joshua Haid at our first (and only) meeting proved evident throughout the process of my divorce. He explained the process thoroughly, listened and responded to my questions with clarity, and managed the process with efficiency and mindfulness. I would comfortably recommend Haid and Teich to anyone considering a divorce or other issues related to family law.

About Client Rating
About Peer Rating

Welcome to Martindale-Hubbell® Client Review, a new ratings service that allows you to view and provide feedback on a lawyer or law firm on service and relationship qualities such as Communication Ability, Responsiveness, Quality of Service, and Value for Money.

Determining a Rating

The Client Review Rating is determined through aggregation of validated responses. This compilation of Client Reviews translates to a numerical rating and associate descriptive term on a scale of 1 -5. 1 being lowest as "Rated" and 5 being highest as "Preeminent".

  • 4.5-5.0 Preeminent
  • 3.0-4.4 Distinguished
  • 1-2.9 Rated

Martindale-Hubbell uses a third-party resource to validate that the respondent is a living person, but cannot confirm the lawyer/client relationship, which in many cases is confidential. Clients must affirm that they are a client of the lawyer or firm identified for review at the time of the completed Client Review.

The Reviewers

Those who complete Client Reviews are clients of law firms who hired a lawyer within the last year, whose matter is not pending, and want to share their experience of that lawyer or law firm with other potential clients. Reviewers can be of any type from in-house counsel, corporate executives, small business owners to private individuals, and even sometimes another lawyer in a different jurisdiction.

Client Reviews are anonymous and reviewers' identities are not published; however a summary of basic demographics will be part of the display of responses.

Why do we collect demographics as part of the review?

Those who are researching a lawyer or law firm like to see that there are other clients who might be "like them". This is valuable information contributing to the decision-making process of hiring a lawyer.

Martindale-Hubbell's role

Martindale-Hubbell facilitates the process of Client Review by gathering responses, validating them and aggregating results for display online. The content of the responses are entirely from reviewers, the clients of the firm or lawyer.

It is important to note that Martindale-Hubbell does not undertake to develop Client Reviews for all firms and lawyers. Therefore, the fact that a firm or lawyer has not been reviewed should not be construed unfavorably. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome and Martindale-Hubbell accepts no responsibility for the content or accuracy of any review over which Martindale-Hubbell exercises no editorial review or control.
