Tom Cannon is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the practice of family law. In addition to his practice in Charlotte, Mr. Cannon maintains an active family law practice in the Raleigh area. For more than 30 years Mr. Cannon lectured at continuing legal education seminars sponsored by various providers, including the North Carolina Bar Association, the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the Mecklenburg County Bar Association. He lectured at the Bar Association’s Practical Skills Course for new lawyers each year from 1977 to 2009, and at its Basics of Family Law Course from 1984 to 2008. He served on the State Bar committee that certifies Family Law Specialists from 1987-1993, and chaired the Bar Association’s Family Law Section in 1982-83. He is certified as a Family Law Arbitrator by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Mr. Cannon served in the United States Naval Reserve for 20 years, the first six as an intelligence officer, and thereafter in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. His practice extends beyond Mecklenburg County, particularly to the contiguous counties of Union, Cabarrus, Lincoln, Gaston and Iredell. He has tried cases in more than 30 counties throughout North Carolina and has appeared before the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the North Carolina Supreme Court in more than 40 cases. From 1995-2013 Tom Cannon was honored by his selection in The Best Lawyers in America. For 2013, he was named as the Charlotte Family Law "Lawyer of the Year" by Best Lawyers. He has been identified by Law & Politics Magazine as a North Carolina "Super Lawyer" for Family Law (2006-2013).

    The Reviewers

    Those who complete Client Reviews are clients of law firms who hired a lawyer within the last year, whose matter is not pending, and want to share their experience of that lawyer or law firm with other potential clients. Reviewers can be of any type from in-house counsel, corporate executives, small business owners to private individuals, and even sometimes another lawyer in a different jurisdiction.
