We investigated her case and discovered that the machine which injured her had a very ugly history. Many people were injured in strikingly similar accidents. We proved that the manufacturer knew how to fix the machine so that it would be safe, but chose not to do so to save money.
After proceeding in Federal Court, we were able to obtain a life pension for our client and a very large lump sum cash payment. Although we could not restore the use of her hand, at least we could make certain that her life would be free from financial worry.
In another widely reported case a grandmother, grandfather and grandson were hit head on by a drunk driver. The accident left the grandmother clinging to life and the grandfather with a shattered ankle. The little boy suffered concussions and nightmares.
Surgeons were able to save the grandmother's life and restore the grandfather's ankle. Unfortuantely, he was left with pins in his bones and she was left with severe scarring.
After learning that the drunk driver carried no insurance, the family did not know what to do. Their medical bills alone were over $200,000.00. They were then referred to our office.
We learned that the grandfather's employer carried insurance which covered the accident. Initially, the insurance company was not cooperative. After filing for arbitration and convincing a retired judge sitting as a mediator that our clients were entitled to compensation, we forced a settlement which paid all of the medical bills and again provided a large lump sum payment to ensure that our client could live without future financial worry.
In criminal drug possession cases, we have successfully worked with the courts to help mothers and fathers place their children in drug treatment instead of prison. We are very proud that many of our clients have returned from their treatment programs to become productive members of our community. If they had been sent to prison, their futures would have been much darker.
Finally, Mr. Cabrera recently proved that our client was not guilty of the very serious criminal charges brought in a nearby small town. Mr. Cabrera was able to show that our client was the victim of a personal vendetta and not the criminal that the prosecutors claimed. After reviewing the evidence, the jury was unanimous in finding that our client had not committed any crime. Our entire office is proud that we prevented an innocent man from becoming the victim of a policeman's grudge.
