Elder Law More than the traditional estate planning, elder law includes such issues as planning for long-term care, solving problems with trusts, retirement decisions, analyzing the costs of health care (including Medicaid qualifications) and considering health insurance problems. Wills, living wills, powers of attorney and trusts are all documents that may be warranted.
Trusts & Wills The planning process considers such issues as distribution of property among heirs, estate, gift and income taxes, business succession, asset protection and charitable giving. Documents include all types of trusts (both revocable and irrevocable), last will and testament, durable power of attorney, and living will. Techniques considered include irrevocable life insurance trust, family limited partnership or LLC, charitable remainder or lead trusts, GRAT, QPRT, dynasty trust, and family incentive trust.
Estate or Trust Administration Bruce G. Thompson will represent the Executor or Trustee in the administration of an estate in Oregon, Washington or California. Advice regarding distribution of assets, funding of trusts, tax returns and post-mortem tax planning may be included.
Guardianships A guardianship may be established for an adult who is incapacitated or any member of the family who is developmentally disabled. Bruce G. Thompson represents family members petitioning the court to establish a guardianship or contesting the appointment of an inappropriate guardian. |
