Listen. Advise. Advocate.

Estate Planning, Administration, Probate and Litigation:  In this field, we advise clients on planning, protecting and preserving their estates through the use of wills, trusts, partnerships and other legal devices. We anticipate the needs of today and tomorrow in our "Lifetime Estate Planning" program to minimize taxes, expense, and delay in settling an estate and to minimize troubles at times of ill health or financial stress. When it comes to settling the estate, we advise the administrator or trustee chosen by the client. When asked, we will serve as the fiduciary. The firm also represents clients in will contests and estate litigation.

Real Estate Transactions and Litigation:  There are many legal considerations in every real estate transaction, even in the typical house closing. What appears to be straightforward often turns out to contain a vexing problem or two. We seek to guide clients through the complexities of the deal: the negotiations, the contracts, the financing, the title and the closing. With proper preparation and careful legal compliance, most problems can be avoided.

We represent numerous lenders and title insurance companies in closings where our goal is to provide personalized attention in a field that is all too often neglectful of courtesy and attention to detail. We also represent clients in commercial transactions, land development, condo conversion, and tax-deferred exchange of properties.  The firm also concentrates in the field of landlord and tenant law, representing landlords and tenants. The firm has experience litigating to resolve title to land. We are members of the Massachusetts Conveyancers Association and are agents for First American, Fidelity and Old Republic Title Insurance Companies.

Corporate and Employment Law: Choosing a business entity is important to the long-term success of a client's business. There are many options today: business and professional corporations, limited patnership, limited liability company and realty trust, to name the most common entities that may be formed. Our firm will advise the client on the proper choice of entity, maintenance of the legal requirements, and contractual, leasing and succession planning.

Trial Practice and Family Law: Occasionally, litigation is necessary to the resolution of disputes between parties. An experienced trial attorney should be employed to bring about a successful result, whether through settlement, which is the manner in which 95% of all civil cases are resolved, alternative dispute resolution (ADR), or through trial. We are fortunate to have several experienced trial attorneys on staff in our referral network.
