Biography: AV rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. Awarded twice by the government of the Republic of China in 1985 for his outstanding work in Immigration and Human Rights Affairs. Winner of Sidney A. Levine Award, Best Legal Writing, 1976-1977. Appeared in Who's Who in American Law, 1985-1986.
Successes include Firstland International v. INS in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, an important case of first impression nationally, which successfully challenged INS' policy of over 40 years of revoking approved immigrant visa petitions under a nebulous standard of proof. (The case has since been overturned by the Administration as part of the Intelligence Reform Act of 2004). Mr. Lee has also successfully litigated before the Board of Immigration Appeals, Appeals Adjudication Unit, Board of Alien Labor Certification Appeals, the Regional Commissioners of legacy INS, and the immigration courts. He is registered to practice before the Southern, Eastern and Western district courts of New York and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
Authorship includes immigration related topics in Chinese language newspapers World Journal and Sing Tao, Pakistani language newspapers, Pakistan Calling & Muhasba and Japanese language newspaper, OCS. Honorary immigration section editor, Pakistan Calling, 1994. His article, "The Bush Temporary Worker Proposal and Comparative Pending Legislation: an Analysis" was Interpreter Releases' cover display article at the American Immigration Lawyers Association annual conference in 2004. Interpreter Releases is the most well-known publication in immigration law. He has published over 1,100 immigration related writings.
