ÆLEX is a full service commercial and litigation law firm that was established on July 1, 2004 as a result of the merger of four leading commercial law firms: O. Adekoya & Co., Victor & Charles, Anga & Emuwa, and Adegbite Adeniji & Co. All the firms which merged to form ÆLEX have been in existence at least since 1990.

It is one of the largest law firms in West Africa with offices in Lagos and Port Harcourt, Nigeria and in Accra, Ghana. The firm also has representation in Abuja, Nigeria.

The lawyers in the firm are admitted to practice in multiple jurisdictions including Nigeria, Ghana, England and Wales, Delaware and Massachusetts (U.S.A.). In addition to qualifying in law, lawyers in the firm have qualifications in disciplines such as political science, economics and engineering.

The firm is the Nigerian member of the law firm section of the World Services Group (www.worldservicesgroup.com). The World Services Group is an international grouping of some of the largest professional service providers in the world. The firm is also the Nigerian member of Meritas (www.meritas.org). Meritas is an affiliation of independent business and litigation law firms with over 200 members in more than 70 countries. The firm is the Nigerian member of the Counterforce Network. Counterforce is a global network of law firms specialising in intellectual property and anti-counterfeiting work. It is operated by the International Chamber of Commerce Counterfeiting Intelligence Bureau (www.icc-ccs.org).

Clients of the firm are predominantly multinational companies including banks and financial institutions, airlines, oil and gas companies, insurance companies, shipping lines, trading and manufacturing conglomerates. The firm also advises foreign embassies, multilateral agencies and Bilateral Chambers of Commerce.

Members of the firm are active in many professional associations including the International Bar Association, American Bar Association, American Arbitration Association, American Society of International Law, International Trademark Association, Venture Capital Association of Nigeria, Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Nigerian Capital Markets Solicitors Association, Nigerian Aviation Law Society, Telecommunications Lawyers Association of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, African Telecommunications Think Tank, and the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
