Andrew W. Gilliland (Principal) born Baltimore, Maryland; admitted to bar, 2000, Nevada; 2007, Utah and U.S. District Court, District of Nevada. Education: Brigham Young University (B.A., 1993); Texas State University (M.A., 1996); University of Utah (J.D., 2000); University of Florida (LL.M., 2005). Drew started his legal career in the Business Law Department of Lionel Sawyer & Collins in Nevada. Early on he expanded his practice areas to include family law matters such as divorce, custody disputes and adoption proceedings. After obtaining an LLM in Taxation from the University of Florida, Drew returned to Utah to work Parsons Behle & Latimer. Drew recently served as in-house counsel and oversaw Summit Development & Management's legal affairs in his position as General Counsel. With an extensive background in Real Estate Development and Financing as well as Real Estate Taxation, Drew was involved in all aspects of Summit Development's transactions and internal systems and controls from planning the acquisition, drafting and finalizing the acquisition documents, to coordinating the sale or operation of a project. Drew left Summit Development to expand his own legal practice bringing a stronger focus on family law matters and estate planning. Drew currently serves in several positions within the City of Draper, Utah. He is a member of the Historic Preservation Commission and the Draper Planning Commission. In addition, Drew presents seminars on Tax Considerations in Entity Selection for a start-up businesses. Drew received a B.A. in History from Brigham Young University, a M.A. in History from Texas State University, a J.D. from the University of Utah College Of Law, and a Masters in Tax from the University of Florida College of Law. Drew also served as a Senior Staff Member of the Journal of Law and Family Studies. Drew's academic honors include being a Member of the prestigious Order of the Coif, taking top honors in Basic Income Tax, Evidence, Contracts, and Civil Procedure.
