Before moving to Austin in 2006, Mr. Casey practiced law in Houston and Dallas for eleven years, including six years with a highly respected international law firm. He has tried cases to jury verdict and has prosecuted appeals before appellate courts. His trials have involved contract disputes, fraud and securities claims, real estate and construction matters, and theft of trade secrets allegations. Mr. Casey gained valuable experience while serving on litigation teams for DuPont, Pfizer, Phillip Morris, Koch Industries, and other large companies.
Mr. Casey has written several continuing legal education articles and spoken at state-wide legal seminars. He co-authored "Taking Cover: Preserving Error When Hit With a Claim for Punitive Damages," 47 Baylor Law Review 923 (1995). Mr. Casey graduated summa cum laude from South Texas College of Law in 1995, where he served on the South Texas Law Review, and obtained his B.A. from the University of Texas in 1992.
Mr. Casey is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Texas and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He has extensive experience in all areas of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, trial and appeal. He also has significant experience advising clients regarding business law matters, including the drafting and negotiation of agreements.
