(Main Office) Chernau, Chaffin & Burnsed, PLLC was founded in 1994 by the merger of Stanley M. Chernau and the firm of Chaffin & Burnsed, P.C. Mr. Chernau formerly was the senior partner of Chernau, Milam & Weiss, P.C., which was preceded by Denny, Lackey & Chernau. Chaffin & Burnsed, P.C. was formed in 1989. The two prior firms worked in conjunction with each other in many commercial litigation cases prior to the 1994 merger. Mr. Chernau is now of counsel to the firm. Each member of the firm has experience in complex commercial litigation, as well as residential and commercial real estate transactional work. Statement of PracticeThe firm maintains a general civil practice in federal and state courts, and has traditionally been active in the following fields of law. Commercial and Residential Real Estate (transactional and litigation), General Commercial Litigation, Banking, Securities Class Action Litigation, Copyright, Trademark and Unfair Competition, Employment Law, Creditor's Rights, and Bankruptcy Law. The firm has extensive experience in a wide range of commercial litigation cases, providing defense for its body of existing clients, including commercial banks, developers and general contractors, and also representing plaintiffs, including the representation of plaintiffs in class action and derivative suits of national significance. For many years the firm has carefully chosen its clients, and is proud of its record of building long-lasting relationships of trust with individuals as well as major corporate concerns.
