The Cauthen Law Firm was established in 2007 to provide effective, yet efficient, legal services to individuals, businesses, governmental entities, and insurance carriers. The Cauthen Law Firm provides big firm service at small firm prices. No excessive billing or administrative overhead charges are utilized. From personal legal documents to high exposure litigation, the Cauthen Law Firm can assist with your legal needs or plans promptly and professionally.

Katie Cauthen built her career in the field of medical malpractice and professional negligence defense. She regularly represents health care professionals in private practice, hospital, long-term care, and correctional facility settings. She also defends a variety of professionals in negligence actions state-wide including abstractors, home inspectors, real estate agents, insurance agencies, and third-party administrators. Katie represents municipal, county and state governmental entities against a variety of claims. Further, she represents clients in pursuing and protecting their rights when injured or damaged by third parties. Katie assists individuals across the state performing Guardian ad Litem services as well as in preparation of legal documents such as wills, powers of attorney, living wills, partnership agreements, and contracts. Katie works extensively with insurance carriers and will meet all reporting and budgeting requirements while keeping both insured and adjuster informed throughout the litigation process.

After many years working for larger firms, Katie decided there was a way to provide excellent representation with less waste and for less money. To fulfill that mission, she opened the Cauthen Law Firm.

Katie is Licensed to practice in all South Carolina state courts, United States District Court for South Carolina, Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and United States Supreme Court. In January 2008, she was elected to serve a four year term on the Blythewood Town Council. Additionally, she has served for several years as the Chairman of the South Carolina Bar Conventions Committee. Katie is an advisor for the Eta Gamma Chapter of Chi Omega Fraternity and serves on the South Carolina Bar Fee Disputes Resolution Board.
