Biography
Tanya Dwyer currently does Pro Bono work for the Brooklyn Bar Association's Volunteer Lawyer Program (VLP). Her work with the VLP is primarily in Family Court. She also does business planning and fundraising for the Teso Widows Association, in Uganda. She began advising Ugandan widows when she first visited that country in 2005. Her focus then was on the property rights of widows and human rights of people living with HIV/AIDS, under Uganda's Constitution. Tanya Dwyer enjoys traveling to other countries and regions. She has taken memorable trips to Egypt, Dubai, France, Uganda, Italy, England, Spain, Mexico, Canada, and Jamaica. She began playing upright bass when she moved to Brooklyn after law school. She is also an avid reader. Some of her associations include Phi Sigma Pi; Corp Member, AmeriCorps, 2001-2002; Staff, U.S. Office Government Ethics, 2003; Advisor, Teso Widows Association, Uganda, 2008-2009. Member, Brooklyn Volunteer Lawyers Program, 2009.
