In 1987, he served as Deputy Chief Counsel to the U.S. Senate Iran/Contra Committee. From 1994-1995, he served as Chief Counsel to the NASD Select Committee on Structure and Government which dramatically overhauled the governance of the NASD and the Nasdaq Stock Market. He has been the Director of, and principal instructor in, Cornell University's Pre-Law Program since 1999. He was a litigation partner at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison for 20 years before leaving to become Chief Corporate Counsel of Tyco International, Ltd. and then opening his own firm in New York City.
