Coughlin & Gerhart, L.L.P. was founded October 1, 1973 by the merger of two existing Binghamton law firms. Its predecessor firms date back to the 1890s. It represents one of the oldest multi-service law firms in the Southern Tier of New York. The Binghamton Labor and Employment Law Firm of Twining, Nemia & Steflik merged into Coughlin & Gerhart, L.L.P. in January of 1999. The attorneys of Pearis, Kline & Barber of Binghamton became "Of Counsel" to the firm on January 1, 2007. The firm's general civil practice is conducted throughout the State and Federal Courts at both the trial and appellate levels.
