Biography
When Susan became a Professional Certified Coach, people asked, "How could you go from lawyering to life coaching?" But Susan sees the two roles aren't that far apart. Wearing either hat, Susan is a fierce advocate, focused on what is most important to her clients, developing a plan consistent with her client's values, and are fully supporting them to reach their goals. Whether it is how to help their children have the healthiest transition to living in two homes or advocating to ensure her client has a secure retirement, Susan is passionate about what her clients really want most. As a Certified Family Law Mediator and a Certified Collaborative Attorney, Susan believes in pursuing satisfying negotiated settlements whenever possible. If litigation is unavoidable, Susan is a tenacious litigator, bringing her 25 years of success in the courtroom. Susan authored Divorce in Nebraska: Understandable Answers to Your Legal Questions (Addicus Publishing) to make the divorce process easier for her clients. Her work also appears in the Creighton Law Review, The Nebraska Lawyer, St. Louis Public Law Review, and the National Women Lawyers Journal. Susan's contributions extend from her profession to her community. She's received a host of awards including the Spirit of Women Foundation Award, the Nebraska Association of Social Workers Citizen of the Year Award, and the Sarpy County CASA Spirit of One Award for her work on behalf of abused and neglected children. Fellow attorneys have given her an AV rating, identifying her as an attorney with very high to preeminent legal ability. In 2008 Susan was inducted as a Nebraska State Bar Fellow Susan is a summa cum laude graduate of Drake University and received her Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts in 1981.
