Gerald Blessey received his J.D. in 1966 from the University of Mississippi, served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, 1967-1968, was Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Mississippi Law School in 1968-1969, and received an LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 1970. He was elected from Harrison County to serve for ten years in the Mississippi House of Representatives, 1972-1981, and was elected to two terms as Mayor of Biloxi, 1981-1989. He resumed full-time practice in 1990, focusing on business litigation and commercial real estate transactions.
