Mrs. Camfield-Kuiper's legal career began in Washington, D.C., when she was a staff assistant in the House of Representatives to Congressman William D. Ford. She worked on the re-authorization of the Higher Education Act for the Post-Secondary Education Subcommittee, chaired by Congressman Ford. During that time, she was able to gain first-hand knowledge about the legislative process that provides our laws, regulations and codes. Because of this experience, she is able to closely examine the intent and language of our laws in order to better assess your legal matters. She has eight years of prosecutorial experience, as well as civil, employment and criminal defense experience. The firm is proud to offer legal representation by an attorney who cares about her clients and the outcome of their situation. Angelique D. Camfield-Kuiper (Member) born Ann Arbor, Michigan; admitted to bar, 1996, Michigan and U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan; 2005, U.S. District Court, Western District of Michigan. Education: Eastern Michigan University (B.A., English Language and Literature, cum laude, 1993); Michigan State University College of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1996). Angelique D. Camfield-Kuiper possesses excellent legal skills and outstanding ethics. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree Cum Laude from Eastern Michigan University in 1983, majoring in English Language and Literature with a minor in Public Law and Government. She attended law school at Detroit College of Law (now Michigan State University-College of Law), where she earned her Juris Doctorate Cum Laude in 1996. While in law school, Mrs. Camfield-Kuiper earned Honors in Research Writing II and the American Jurisprudence Book Award in Criminal Law. She also served as an orator for the Chicago Bar Association Team of the Moot Court Board after earning the Best Brief Award and Best Overall in the class competition to get onto the board. She went on to teach the next competition class and to graduate with honors. She was admitted to the Michigan State Bar in the November 1996. During law school and after her admission, Mrs. Camfield-Kuiper worked temporary positions as a law clerk at several civil firms, including Kohl, Secrest, Wardle, Lynch, Clark & Hampton in Farmington Hills and Sachs, Waldman, O'Hare, Helveston, Bogas & McIntosh in Detroit, while she sought a position in prosecution. She landed a permanent, full time position as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Allegan County Michigan, where she remain prosecutor, she taught Criminal Law and procedure to law enforcement cadets at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. After leaving Allegan County, she worked with Terrence Lilly in Kalamazoo, focusing on employment law and criminal defense before opening her own practice in January 2007. Mrs. Camfield-Kuiper's service spreads to the community, where she was a member of the Allegan County bar Association from 1997 through 2006, serving as Vice-President from 2004-2005 and President from 2005-2006. She was a member of the Domestic Violence Task Force, land also served on the Board of Directors for the Safe Harbor Children's Advocacy Center from 2000 until 2006, whose mission id to prevent and stop child abuse through education, intervention, counseling and prosecution of offenders. She is a current member of the Kalamazoo County Bar Association and the Dix Street Elementary School of PTO.
