Christine A. Yared has practiced law in Michigan for over 23 years, litigating cases in state and federal courts, specializing in employment law, family law, sexual orientation law, civil rights, and criminal law.
Christine has taught Constitutional Law and Civil Liberties, Civil Litigation, Sexual Orientation, Law and Policy and Legal Research and Writing at Grand Valley State University. She has also taught Criminal Law and Procedure at Grand Valley State University's Police Academy. In addition, Christine has taught courses in the Legal Assistant Program at Davenport University.
Christine has articles published in the American Bar Association's Journal, Human Rights and the Michigan Bar Association's Family Law Journal. In addition, Christine has presented professional papers at the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences' annual conferences. She has extensive public speaking experience and has been interviewed by the print, radio and television media about her cases and related legal issues.
Christine's professional associations include membership in the American Bar Association, the Michigan Bar Association and Lambda Legal and she has served on many committees for the Michigan Bar Association and Grand Rapids Bar Association. In addition, Christine was appointed to the Grand Rapids Civilian Appeal Board to hear citizen appeals from the police department's Internal Affairs Unit. Yared is Past president of the Riverside Elementary School PTA. Christine currently serves as chair of the Grand Rapids chapter of GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network). She is also a member of the LGC Network, the Triangle Association and the Natural Resources Defense Council.
