Biography
James Clifford focuses his practice on business and employment law, civil litigation, regulatory/administrative law, and criminal defense. Mr. Clifford began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Massachusetts, then became a commercial litigation associate at large law firms in Portland and Boston. Thereafter, he served as general counsel to several start ups and small businesses, in one of which he became a principal. These experiences as both principal and agent, afford Mr. Clifford a different perspective through which to counsel and advocate for his clients. Mr. Clifford grew up in Lewiston and comes from a long line of lawyers and public servants. He was awarded the Drinan Fellowship in Criminal Law at Suffolk University Law School. Prior to earning his J.D., Mr. Clifford taught school and worked with young adults with developmental disabilities. Mr. Clifford is a member of the Maine State Bar Association, American Bar Association, Trial Lawyers Association.
