Edwin Schklar believes that success in law practice isn’t mysterious, it comes from staying organized, working hard, paying close attention to details, exercising sound judgment, and, most importantly, truly understanding what clients want to achieve. After earning his degrees from Vanderbilt and Emory, he began his legal career as a trial attorney in the United States Army, stationed in the Military District of Washington. During that time, he also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, prosecuting cases in a unique and highly sensitive jurisdiction that included the White House, foreign embassies, nearby military installations, and other secure locations. Over the course of that work, Edwin tried several hundred cases in both federal district court and military courts, building deep courtroom experience early in his career. In 1984, he returned to Atlanta and joined the litigation department at Jones Day’s Atlanta office, where he continued to sharpen his skills in a global firm environment. In 1991, Edwin founded his own firm, bringing big-firm and federal trial experience to a more personal setting while representing clients ranging from individuals to some of the world’s largest companies.
