(Main Office) The law firm of Campbell, Black, Carnine, Hedin, Ballard & McDonald, P.C. originally began practicing law in Mt. Vernon, Illinois in 1938 as a separate office of a Central Illinois law firm. In 1977 the Mt. Vernon office became a separate firm named Campbell, Furnall, Moore & Jacobsen. In 1988, the name was again changed to Campbell, Black, Carnine & Hedin, P.C. and again in 1997 to Campbell, Black, Carnine, Hedin, Ballard & McDonald, P.C., to reflect the names of the active senior principals. The firm initially concentrated in oil, gas and coal law and soon added defense of civil liability claims, including negligence, products liability and medical malpractice, as a major concentration. Presently the firm has members concentrating in most major fields of civil practice including domestic relations, general litigation, real estate, banking, bankruptcy, general business, corporate and estate planning as well as insurance defense and coal, oil and gas law. The firm has active cases across the entire southern third of Illinois, in both state and federal courts.
