David M. Carlson (Attorney at Law) born Chicago, Illinois, April 30, 1971; admitted to bar, 2001, Illinois; 2002, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois including Trial Bar; 2003, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Indiana. Education: University of Arizona (B.A., 1993); Northern Illinois University (J.D., 2001). Dave was born in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised in the Chicago area and graduated from Glenbrook North High School. During his schooling he worked as a concrete laborer and for United Parcel Service. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arizona in 1993. He returned to Chicago and became an Adult Probation Officer with the Circuit Court of Cook County. His tenure there included assignments to the Intensive Drug Unit and the Home Confinement Unit. He then went to work for the State of Illinois, as an Assistant to the Comptroller. His responsibilities there included aspects of Public Relations as well as managing projects dealing with the Cemetery and Funeral Home Trust. In 1998, Dave began his legal education at Northern Illinois University. While there, he was privileged to be selected to the National Mock Trial Team under the direction of the Honorable Jack Darrah. He received his Juris Doctor from Northern and was selected by his classmates as Class Speaker. During law school he took on a part time job as a prosecutor for the City of Chicago. He continued to work as a prosecutor for the City until he took the position of Assistant State's Attorney with the Office of the Will County State's Attorney. During his time there he was fortunate to handle virtually every type of case, from traffic to DUI's to narcotics and violent crimes. He was assigned to the Organized Crime Unit and was also named the Chief Gang Crimes Prosecutor. Dave left the Office for a period and worked in civil practice, with the law firm of Bullaro & Carton, in Chicago. Because of this Firm's extensive position in the field of Civil Litigation, his experience there was unmatched. He learned many facets of civil law and represented the interests of many clients ranging from large multi-national corporations to local governmental units to small businesses and individuals. Cases ranged from personal injury, to malicious prosecution to contract disputes. He is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois, the Northern District of Illinois, and the Northern District of Indiana.
