People v. Drew Peterson, Defendant, who at the time alleged in the indictment was a Bolingbrook Illinois police officer, was charged with unlawful possession of a rifle with an illegally short barrel. I got the case dismissed using the federal Law Enforcement Safety Act, which allows police officers to carry almost any type of weapon anywhere the country.
People v. Joseph Reyes, Defendant was charged with criminal contempt for allegedly taking his daughter to church in violation of a court order not to. The Defendant was found not guilty after a trial even though there was a video tape of him taking what looked like a child into Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago.
USA v. Mohammed Barakeh. Client charged with aiding in an illegal marriage for immigration purposes, a felony. I got the charges reduced to a misdemeanor and my client was sentenced to probation and community service.
USA v. Yougesh Sonar, Client was charged with computer fraud and embezzlement of half a million dollars. Even though the Client confessed, and even though the federal sentencing guidelines for that amount called for sentence of 33 to 41 months, after a sentencing hearing the client was sentenced to 12 months, with almost half of his sentence considered already served.
People v. Shadi Khamis, Client was charged with burglary and armed robbery. On the date the case was set for trial the state dropped the charges.
Hani Hamad and Ahmad El Manasser, Clients were both charged with burglary and theft. After a trial they were found not guilty.
People v. Steven Johnson, Jr., Client was charged with felony possession of narcotics. The case was dismissed on the date the case was set for trial.
People v. Linda Sielck, Client was charged with burning her infant daughter with a cigarette by her husband during a divorce case. The client was found not guilty after a trial.
People v. T------ R. --------, Client was charged with a felony sex offence. After we conducted a motion to suppress the arrest and statement, the State reduced the charges to a non-sex crime misdemeanor.
Village of Buffalo Grove v. Lana Lashoff,. Client was charged with drunk driving. The prosecution dropped the charges on the date the case was set for trial for lack of evidence.

History:
Joel A. Brodsky practices law from his office in Cook County, Illinois, as well as in all courts throughout the State of Illinois. In the past 28 years Joel has been a partner in several law firms, both large and small [3]. Prior to 1996, Joel A. Brodsky was employed Stone & Hughes a medium size law firm which specialized in commercial law. Mr. Brodsky was involved in all areas of the practice, including the litigation of matters in which his clients were large financial institutions and commercial lenders. Since 1987 he has concentrated his practice in the areas of criminal defense and complex commercial litigation.
Mr. Brodsky has tried numerous felony and misdemeanor criminal cases before both juries and bench. Further, Mr. Brodsky has represented clients in both Illinois State Court and Federal Court in commercial litigation matters ranging from trade secrets cases, to legal malpractice, to banking law violations. He has also represented clients in divorce, custody and visitation matters where issues such as religion, junk science evaluations, and visitation interference have been at issue. He has also handled a number of appeals to the Illinois First District Court of Appeals and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Joel A. Brodsky was born in Chicago on July 24, 1957, and has resided in Chicago his entire life. He attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, Cum Laude.
