Beginning his practice with his grandfather (Russell G. Turner, Sr.), uncle (Russell G. Turner, Jr.) and father (Jack P. Turner) in 1975 with the firm of Turner, Turner & Turner (est. 1950) in Atlanta, Georgia, Nelson Goss Turner has continued to practice throughout the state of Georgia, handling primarily domestic relations and family law matters, both at the trial and appellate level. In July 2004 he relocated his practice to the historic Cole Manor located at 331 Washington Avenue, Marietta, Georgia 30060 and established The Turner Firm, P.C., continuing his statewide family law practice. He has been awarded the highest rating and has been listed in the Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers published by Martindale-Hubbell since 1990. He is a Fellow of American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He has participated in numerous domestic relations seminars throughout the state of Georgia and has served on the State Bar Committee to revise Domestic Relations Laws, the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Bar Association ADR Section, the Legislative Committee of the State Bar of Georgia Family Law Section and Legislative Committee of the Georgia Chapter of the AAML, served a three year term as the National Delegate of the Georgia Chapter of the AAML, served a two year term as President of the Georgia Chapter of the AAML, was elected to a three year term on the Board of Managers of the Georgia Chapter of AAML, and served as Judge of the Emory School of Law Negotiations Competition (1996). In 1979, he drafted the Georgia Family Violence Statute and was appointed Registered Lobbyist for the 1980 legislative session by the Atlanta Bar Association with regard to said statute which became law in 1981 when introduced by Senator Roy Barnes of Marietta, Georgia (later Governor Barnes). He is a resident of Cobb County Georgia, a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia where he served on numerous committees, taught divorce seminars, ushered for seventeen years and taught a fourth grade Sunday School class.
