Free Initial Consultation (Main Office) John W. Merting has been in practice in Pensacola continuously since 1968, initially as a partner with Richard H. Merritt, Sr., Virginia Law '25, and then with J. McHenry Jones, Florida Law '23. The firm conducted its practice in a restored historic mansion in downtown Pensacola from 1975 to 2001. The firm relocated to the Harbourtown office complex in Gulf Breeze, Florida in 2001. This location is just a bridge away from downtown Pensacola, but more accessible to the firm's growing clientele in the Fort Walton, Destin and Panama City areas. The firm represents private individuals and their families from around the nation and throughout the world in their claims for wrongful death, brain injury, catastrophic, and other career ending injuries. Many of these cases are claims against government hospitals or are maritime in nature, while others cover the full range of plaintiffs' cases. Mr. Merting is the first Board Certified Admiralty and Maritime Attorney in the entire Florida Panhandle. Since the firm declines to advertise in the mass media, a significant portion of new matters are referrals from other attorneys, including both local as well as out-of-state counsel. Statement of PracticeAdmiralty and Maritime Law, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Personal Injury, Wrongful Death, Federal Tort Claims, Medical Negligence, Legal Malpractice, Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act, Workers' Compensation.
