Biography
A native of Daytona Beach, Florida and former Paramedic, Garry Potts attended The Stetson College of Law, where he was appointed Comments Editor of the Stetson Law Review. After graduating from The Stetson College of Law with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1987, Mr. Potts accepted an appointment as an Assistant State Attorney in Pinellas and Pasco Counties. He served in that position for fifteen years, where, as a prosecutor he handled a wide variety of criminal matters, including DUI, domestic violence, drug possession, child abuse, exploitation and other crimes against the elderly, RICO, economic crimes, career criminal, and homicides. In addition to having tried in excess of one-hundred jury trials to completion, Garry Potts has been Board Certified in Criminal Trial Law by the Florida Bar since 1995. After leaving the State Attorney's Office in October 2002 for private practice, Mr. Potts defended cases for clients throughout the Tampa Bay area. His practice is focused on trial litigation, in the areas of DUI, criminal defense, personal injury, auto accident and slip and falls. Mr. Potts has served as Co-President of the Barney Masterson American Inn of Court and he is currently the immediate Past - President of the Pinellas County Trial Lawyers' Association. He has previously served on the adjunct faculty for the Pinellas County Police Academy, through St. Petersburg College. Mr. Potts is a member of the Florida Bar and is admitted to practice in the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
